Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup of dried mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes, until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
  3. Use an immersion blender to puree the sauce to a smooth consistency, or leave it chunky if you prefer.
  4. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.

Serve the marinara sauce over pasta, pizza, or any dish of your choice.
